Alvarez: Auburn Girl Scouts Practice Horseback Riding, Host Mother’s Day Tea | Lifestyles

Jaime Alvarez special for the citizen

The local Girl Scouts of NYPENN Pathways Council troops have had a very eventful spring. They stay busy honing their leadership skills and participating in service projects as they head towards the end of the school year and prepare for Girl Scout activities over the summer vacation.

Auburn’s Troop 60311 works on their riding badge at the Healing H’Arts Equestrian Center in Union Springs. The girls learn the basics of riding, proper care and horse safety. Better yet, they are getting ready for their first outing!

Troop 60311 has also made comfort backpacks for children in Ukraine which they will send out via a local supply drive.

The Auburn Service Unit recently hosted a Mother’s Day Tea. The girls spent an afternoon with their moms, decorating flower pots, taking pictures and enjoying many delicious snacks.

GSNYPENN staff are hosting several upcoming programs and events for families interested in involving their daughters in the Girl Scout program.
