TRYON, North Carolina — The Tryon Hounds is proud to present the Trip Hoffman Memorial Riding Scholarship for fox hunting enthusiasts in Polk, Henderson, Rutherford, Spartanburg and Greenville counties for the 2022-2023 hunting season.

Foxhunting has been part of the region’s culture for nearly a hundred years and is popular with equestrian enthusiasts who appreciate the sport and tradition. This scholarship helps ensure the sport’s place in the community for future generations by helping to pay membership dues.

Trip Hoffman was a resident of Tryon and a beloved member of the Tryon Hounds for decades. He has also served on the Tryon Hounds board of directors and was chairman of the hunt club’s social committee for many years.

“We are grateful to the Hoffman family for providing the seed capital that made this fund possible,” said Tryon Hounds co-handler Bonnie Lingerfelt. “It’s a wonderful way to honor Trip and support his love for the Tryon Hounds and the long tradition of hound riding.”
